Anna Burdenski

‘I am associate researcher for the Snow2Rain project and PhD candidate at the department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna. In the long-term, I hope that our work contributes to a better understanding of how environmental changes are affecting life in East Greenland.

As anthropologist, my role for the project is establishing a collaboration with the local community in Tasiilaq and facilitating a co-operation between community members and researchers. My emphasis is the exploration of human-environment relations and local dynamics in relation to environmental changes. I have an educational background in social sciences, specific social and cultural anthropology and global tourism development. As a young researcher, my ongoing focus is Polar/Arctic research, in particular Greenland. My interest in Greenland began during my master studies at Aalborg University Copenhagen. Since then, I have lived, worked and travelled along different places in Greenland. I accomplished a research project at the Greenlandic Tourism Board and dedicated my master thesis to the potential of Greenlandic tour guides within the tourism landscape of the country.’
