In the long-term, I hope that our work contributes to a better understanding of how environmental changes are affecting life in East Greenland.’

‘My name is Jorrit van der Schot. My job for the Snow2Rain project is to see how both the ratio between snowfall and rainfall, and the snow conditions in general are changing in the area around Tasiilaq. I am working with data from snow measurements, weather stations, results from regional climate models, as well as satellite data.’

‘I am a Senior Project Advisor and a Research Fellow at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna. I have a long-standing relation to East Greenland and its people having spent considerable time in the community of Tasiilaq and the surrounding villages (in particular Sermiligaaq) for more than 15 years. The project, I hope, will create a dialogue between local inhabitants and scientists about changes in climate and environment, and an integration of knowledge vice versa.’

‘I am a professor of social and cultural anthropology at the University of Vienna. After my studies in Vienna, I spent 20+ years as a professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and moved back to Vienna in 2012. My current research interests are focused on how people in arctic communities interact with built and natural environments. Within Snow2Rain, I am responsible for the social science part of the project.’
